How to choose in this category
Beverage and juice lines wash, press, filter, heat-treat, where needed concentrate, and fill fruit. One line can produce products with different legal definitions, such as not-from-concentrate juice, juice from concentrate and nectar.
Selection criteria
- The product's legal name follows the rules of the country of sale. In the EU, Directive 2001/112/EC distinguishes fruit juice, juice from concentrate and nectar; the Codex standard for fruit juices and nectars gives a similar framework.
- The filling method is chosen together with the pack: hot filling needs heat-resistant packaging, while heat-sensitive packs require cold aseptic filling. The choice also changes the design of the heat-treatment unit.
- In concentrate production, vacuum evaporation removes water at low temperature; recovering the aroma that leaves with the vapour is planned separately for product quality.
- Process and dilution water must be of drinking-water quality, defined in the EU by Directive 2020/2184. Whether water treatment is part of the line's scope should be stated clearly in the offer.
